Harvest time in the Pacific Garden

Us Bon Appétit-ers at the Pacific Café love having a garden just steps from the kitchen. The onsite garden yields an abundance of fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables that our Executive Chef Alberto Gonzales and his team utilize in many applications across the café. They have also become experienced at figuring out how to make the most of them throughout the year: Kitchen Supervisor Eduardo Garcia harvests fresh herbs, preps them ion the kitchen, and dries some for future use.

Tomatoes, zucchini, artichokes and strawberries are among the bountiful produce grown onsite , and the herb selections includes parsley, cilantro, sage, and more. Chef Alberto features fresh ingredients in a wide variety of dishes in the café, from sautéed green bean sides to bright kale slaw to the beloved Pacific Cooler The garden isn’t just a source of food, however; it’s almost a community space. Guests often sit outside and enjoy the greenery during lunch, or stroll through and explore the garden, sometimes picking some herbs for their dinners at home later. There’s plenty to go around!
